10 and love the game more and more as the years go by. Newest versions are incredible, and I can always be ready for another run at a moments notice. The streamlining of this game has breathed new life into it, and it's no Lite game. Plenty of crunch and complexity to play around in. This one feels like home, a classic that has so many QOL features (with more added pretty regularly!) and interesting things to do. Rift Wizard - blow up shit, make crazy spell combos, use your brain because every move, spell, and item counts. Roguelike distilled in some ways to it's purest form, and in the spell systems case, blown out in fabulous fashion. Rift Wizard has become one of my most played in recent years.Ĭogmind - I'm bad at this game, hoping to play more this year and change that! There's a ton of really cool systems at work here, and the ASCII/Tile art is all gorgeous. I've only won once, and it was by the seat of my pants. Need to play it more to get better and understand the systems fully. I could go on and on about the work put into this, and I've barely scratched the surface apparently. Golden Krone Hotel - This one is a bit lighter in some ways to the others preceding it on the list, but still a very fun game I really enjoyed, and still enjoy coming back to for a run or two once a month-ish. Honestly should be recommended more as an on-ramp for people new to the roguelike genre. Has its own quirks and ideas but really gets you into the system and feel of the game. The Ground Gives Way (TGGW) - this game has such a great feeling, very streamlined design but with a million things to find and make work.
